You got me wrong. 50-50 means in all responsibilities, financially and otherwise. I think most the problem is we are still hung up on prescribing a definite role for each gender. For equality to thrive we must remove gender base roles.

If the spouse have a joint acc then each should credit an equal share of their income and all household expenses and upkeep of the children should inevitably be funded from their joint acc. But if one earns more than the other, they can decide if they want a 50-50 fincial contribution or not.

The point is a 50-50 responsibility share takes off the burden from falling on one partner.
