Why are you surprised? You forget catholic doctrines were written by patriarchal ideologists. Of course the Pope can't stand against the same ideology that runs in his veins. Catholic clergies don't support women's freedom ones it pertains to reproduction and gender roles. So I'm not surprised about the Pope's sexist speech.
