To the woman who has lost her confidence:

“How often do you put your own needs first? Carve out time to pamper yourself and feel proud of who you are? As our looks and even limitations change with age, how often do you feel more confident about yourself?”

I bet 13% of women can’t answer this question honestly. I know I couldn’t answer these questions if it were fifteen years ago. Being a woman scared me because society crushes a woman’s self-confidence. We are judged by our appearance, how we speak, how we react to situations, and worse, what we do with our personal lives.

We mask our pain behind makeup and cloth our shame with a smile. A young woman is taught to be vulnerable, fragile in imminent danger. We are afraid to walk alone in the dark.

Afraid that letting a drop of tear fall will crush us. Ambitious women get intimidated to show strength at work.

No matter how much your wisdom and the sacrifices you make to keep your family together, you are just a woman unworthy of recognition.

Being a single mother changed all of that for me. Going through the pains during and after pregnancy, the humiliation, the shame, and surviving…
