True. As much as I want a clean breakup, it isn't always that easy. For the most part, people deserve to know why you are breaking up with them. And that guilt trap of vocalizing the reason behind the breakup can be more excruciating for the one initiating the breakup. That's why you see the "let's be friends" soothing request after a breakup speech.

I find disappearing much easier too because some people can be vindictive when you openly tell them why you cannot be with them. That's why it's good to understand the type of person you are ending things with and choose an option that will not place both parties lives at risk.

The first time I ended things with a narcissist was brutal and since then disappearing has been much safer for me. But to avoid the emotional drama, I clearly state my no commitment dating rule to keep the pressure off relationship expectations.
