This was my biggest struggles as a young mum. I focused on laying ground rules instead of building a connection and my daughter grew up being a afraid of me and would dicuss her problems with my younger sister and not me.

It was recently, about five years ago, that I learned how strict I was and started easying up and we have become closer than when I was all rules and guarded.
