The more question is how many of us do this for others? We don't check on people not just singles. In Western culture, every one minds their business unless you you belong to a community or have close friends that support each other.

In my country is different. We have a very strong support system. We live in close proximity unlike what I see Westerners. If your neighbour doesn't check on you, your colleagues or friends will. We rarely see people live miles away from each other.
