That is some raw, undiluted truth. Marketing is key really. Sometimes I think a bit of luck does play a role in Medium's success, especially with viral content.

I've had a couple of viral content. Some I didn't do any promotion and they just took off after five months of publishing them. Now even with the promotion, I have not seen any of my posts go that viral.
