I can’t afford to pay $5 a month to all the fine people whose writing I admire who’ve left Medium for Substack. So I mosy over and read their free posts, and wish them well. Somehow, I’ve gotten seven subscribers over there, one of them paid, and I wasn’t posting anything…

Sounds good. I haven't seen any success on Substack but the platform has what most social media platforms don't have, which is networking.
