Religion itself isn't to be blamed for these abuses. I'm a religious person and from what I see, the Bible and Quran forbids abuses.

But the religious leaders themselves encourage abuse both sexually and otherwise by protecting and defending abusers shamelessly.

Imagine if it were an ordinary person that asked a child to suck their tongue? I bet the offender would have been sentenced for sexual assault.

But no, Lama went scot free because he's a religious leader and one with prestige too. So he easily manipulated the law with religious doctrines.
