Oh really? So then these mothers you described chose motherhood to please others? Because selfishness means choosing what pleases you above other people's needs. And there is nothing wrong with that.

The problem is that we make selfishness look bad because some do things at the expenses of others.

We are all selfish and that's the fact. You hardly see people in relationships or doing things that do not benefit them.

Lastly, I disagree that most women are not choosing to procreate because they have no benefit from it. If not then why the shame on childless women?

If mothers are not selfish and considering their needs before others, then why won't we stop bringing kids into the world since labor and pregnancy takes a toll on women?

No one goes through pregnancy journey without an interest. To say otherwise, is deceitful.
