Like the scripture says, "a wise man thinks about death." My dad thought about his last days and prepared himself for death.
When he will speak about where he wants to be buried, stuff we should do and not spend so much for his funeral. I would try to cut him off saying, "that will take a long time, daddy. Stop talking like this."
And often he will get mad at me. His words were "do you know if I will be able to talk when my time comes."
Unfortunately, his death happened as he predicted. He fell from his bed, struck down by stroke and was able to speak for 10 days. And he finally spoke, it was incoherent and died three days later.
I'm reminded of my dads wisdom all the time. Death visits us all and we must make peace with ourselves and loved ones before our time passes.
