It's all about indoctrination. My parents used to tell me men only want sex from women so I shouldn't be friends with the opposite sex.

Sadly, my mum still believes this till date and would try to indoctrinate my daughter with the same belief but I warned my daughter not to belief this. Although I did lecture her about boundaries with men.
