I do agree with you on Twitter is built on a tribal community. I have been taking my Twitter account seriously since Pinterest took down my biggest traffic sourcing account.

My issue with social media is that they can shut down your account at the slightest provocation. That was what Pinterest did after building a 200k+ following for two years.

Now I use social accounts carefully. The fact that we have no control over the backend, is a big risk to put all of one's eggs.
