I agree the mistress was out of line. I don’t like how she exposed the man's secret. She should have allowed the affair die with the man. Her involve his wife seem like an ulterior motive.

If she did love the man as much as she claims, she would have attended the funeral in disguise without causing any alarm or better still visit the man after the funeral. But no, her intentions were to rub the affair in the widow’s face.
